Welcome to Mrs. Vazquez’s 5th grade math and science class. We have lots to learn, and lots to share! I am excited to be working with you and your student this year. Our classroom is a place to learn and grow. This school year, we are going to explore ideas in a way that will stimulate learning, and help your student grow as individuals.
A little bit about me: My alma mater is UNR (Go Pack!), and I graduated in 2004. Recently, I received my master’s degree in education from Sierra Nevada College in 2017. I have three children of my own, one in middle school, the other two, in second grade and kindergarten. My favorite color is purple, I speak French and Spanish, and I also read a number of other languages. I love music. My favorite thing about teaching math and science is that these two things can lead people down so many paths. When students ask themselves, “ am I really going to use this in real life?” I always tell my students that the answer is yes. This year we will explore how many paths math and science can take us down. My goal is to inspire future scientists and mathematicians by exploring those paths today. I can’t wait!
