Ready for What Comes Next:
The SNACS Charter High School Experience

In High School, students begin to think about and prepare for their adult lives. The brand-new SNACS charter high school curriculum is designed to be a launchpad for their brightest possible future. Within these brand-new walls, students will set big goals and stretch to reach them, surrounded by a close-knit community that knows and loves them. This is the power of personalized learning and the power of PLAY.

Unlike other charter high schools, SNACS creates a different kind of classroom, filled with personalized, hands-on, and self-directed learning opportunities that keep high school students actively engaged.

High School is also when students prepare to leave home. Our community-based model of learning helps students and families make the most of this very special time together, forging strong connections that can transcend distance.

High School Curriculum

Taking the SNACS innovative PLAY Model (Promoting Learning and Accountability in Youth) to the next level, our innovative charter high school curriculum exceeds Nevada state standards while encouraging students to exceed their own expectations.

Through a mix of challenging classes and student-directed independent pathway projects, SNACS students practice:

Strong STEM Skills

Through highly interactive individual and team puzzles and projects utilizing hands-on tools and the latest technology, our students learn to develop the spirit of scientific inquiry, more mathematical minds, and see themselves as stewards of the natural world. College-bound students can challenge themselves in Honors and AP courses to accelerate their education.

Reading, Writing, and Critical Thinking

Moving between fiction and nonfiction—and between literature and their own creative writing journals and published books—High School learners expand their vocabulary, hone their grammar, and learn to see and understand the power of words to share information, persuade others, and express themselves. Whether composing rigorous analytical essays in Honors or AP classes or imaginative creative works, they unlock the potential of language. (They even meet and work with professional authors and launch their own published books at Barnes and Noble Author’s Debut!)

History, Culture, and the Wider World

High Schoolers are preparing to step into—and shape—our world. SNACS high school history, sociology, and current events classes and pathway projects encourage them to draw connections between historical and current events and between other cultures and their own.

Time Management and Study Skills

Because SNACS prioritizes self-directed learning for our students, they take ownership of their education at an earlier age and develop practical time management strategies and effective study skills for High School. Pathway projects, in particular, let students workshop their time management and achieve greater accountability—skills that are critical to both college and career success.

The Arts, Performance, and Creative Self-Expression

SNACS centers the arts in our innovative academic curriculum, encouraging students to incorporate visual and performing arts into their learning process. We also provide ample opportunities for students to learn musical instruments, explore painting, sculpture, and ceramics, and participate in theatrical performances.

The SNACS approach works wonders for many different kinds of learners.

High School Life

Beyond the Classroom

High School students are getting ready to apply classroom learning to life’s challenges. That’s why SNACS sends them into dynamic real-world settings on regular INSERT ACTIVITIES HERE. Whether they are interning with BUSINESS NAME or exploring INSERT NATURAL AREA, they are learning new skills, discovering new passions, and seeing new possibilities for their lives.

Academic Supports

From extensive speech services to one-on-one tutoring to counseling appointments and health seminars, SNACS ensures the mental and physical wellbeing of our students and helps every child thrive. From personalized, one-on-one college counseling to tutoring and internships, the SNACS staff ensures every student has what they need to succeed.
